Mexican mayor ‘marries’ a crocodile
Updated | By Lethu Ndimande
There’s strange and then there’s this...
Victor Aguilar, who is the mayor of a small fishing town in Mexico called San Pedro Huamelula, got hitched to a crocodile!
Don’t worry, it wasn’t a real wedding.
It forms part of the local harvest ceremony where the reptile is dressed like a bride and is paraded throughout town with music playing before the actual ritual.
The female reptile is considered to be a princess and the traditional belief is that the crocodile will bring “luck” to the locals with a “good harvest”.
