The Martin Bester Drive embarked on a Purple Rhino marathon party at Ridge Back Village restaurant in Centurion to raise funds for Jacaranda FM’s Purple Rhino Project. The Purple Rhino project is a fund initiated by Jacaranda FM to raise funds to fight against rhino poaching.

 

Ridgeback Village Restaurant in Centurion sponsored the venue for an outside broadcast of the Martin Bester Drive show for the telethon on Friday the 31^st  of July. Ridgeback Village Restaurant owner, David, kicked off the pledges with a pledge of R20000 and then he challenged other business’s and individuals to do the same.

 

Soon there after we received pledges of R20000 and more from the following companies:

Martins Funeral Homes Head Office (R20 000)

We also received  other individual pledges including an individual pledge from Walter Hirzebruch of R20 000!

 

The total of which is R300 000!

 

Thereafter Arod stunt guy from the Martin Bester Drive as well as Thabiso Khambule who together are known as Qbeats did a marathon music mix at Ridgeback to celebrate together with hundreds of Jacaranda FM listeners.

The Purple Rhino Project assists in the provision for care of orphaned rhino cubs, the purchasing of night vision goggles for spotting poachers as well as training guard dogs to track poachers. These funds are going to strengthen our fight to protect our beautiful rhinos.
