To say that many countries are still finding difficulty in picking themselves up after the pandemic is an understatement.

The effects are deep, and it will certainly take some time for the world to recover.

It is why we can understand why countries are trying their best to get people back to travelling. They are trying to create a buzz again and appeal to travellers.

One such destination is Hong Kong. They are offering travellers 500,000 free plane tickets, worth a gigantic £225-million (R4,6-billion).

Visitor numbers have dropped by tens of millions since COVID-19 and we are certain that this has caused financial repercussions.

This global ticket giveaway campaign is set to start in the new year.

"The Hong Kong tourism board will manage the advertising campaign for the scheme while the airport authority will distribute the free tickets." (Daily Mail)

Hong Kong followed some of the strictest COVID-19 restrictions and therefore lost a lot of tourists due to the travel restrictions imposed on travellers.

As you know, Hong Kong is quite a popular destination for travellers. With the appeal of shopping, museums, heritage, food, and more, it is definitely bucket list worthy.

We can hear the big sigh of relief from travellers. Although we have adopted a new way of living, it is welcomed to hear that things are slowly going back to normal, a new normal.
