Toso, who was part of the surgical team that carried out the operation, said that the music had a therapeutic effect on the 10-year-old, even though he was knocked out by anaesthesia.
Toso told Reuters that they tried to stop and then restart the music, noticing the patient’s response. “Despite the fact that he was under total anaesthesia, the brain perceived the music and this was very exciting.”
The surgery removed a double tumour from the spine of the boy.
