Yes, there is more than one type of kiss and, yes, they do mean different things.

Well, at least that's what we have heard.

Marriage and family therapist, Dr Callisto Adams, shares 15 types of kisses and what each of them mean.

Definitely some insightful information for someone trying to read the difference between a kiss of endearment and one hot, steamy kiss...

As you know, kissing is said to be the most intimate part of a relationship. Which is why it needs some attention, especially because yesterday was Kiss Day.

The first kiss that Dr. Adams talks about is the 'forehead kiss'.

"A forehead kiss is labelled as a romantic kiss and as a kiss that shows emotional closeness. It shows love and respect for you through a kiss on your forehead. This kiss is to show how much you are appreciated and respected." (News24

2. Cheek kisses

This is a sure fire way that things are leading somewhere or not a dead end, in our opinion. According to News24, Dr Adams says: "This is a sign of a new relationship, where the kiss on the cheek is a way of showing interest if the person is shy, or it could mean they are not romantically interested. Alternatively a long kiss on the cheek could mean they are trying to move past the platonic relationship and into the romantic side."

3. Nose kisses are definitely a sign of love, not lust. It generally means that they are happy to be with you.

4. Gentle kisses mean that they want to make you feel "comfortable and wanted". "While kissing you gently, they want to tell you that you can feel secure and that they care about you. One may say that this kiss is passionate too, and it's true; it is uniquely passionate." (News24)

5. Tongue kissing is quite obviously a sign of lust, but are also a sign of "closeness and passion".

6. Shoulder kisses are a sign that shows they are there for you. "It's more of a sign of respect and care. It's their way of letting you know of their affection and maybe getting into something interesting later." (News24)

7. Eyes closed kiss is sure fire sign that they are into you.

8. A long kiss is a clear indicator that they are passionate about you. It is a way of connecting with you physically and emotionally.

9. Eskimo kisses are cute, it's when they rub noses with you. Which is a tell tale that they want to kiss. This shows someone's affection and how happy they are to be in your presence.

10. Air kisses are playful and show that they want to be there for you. Playfulness is important in any relationship and this is a cute gesture.

11. A trio of kisses is fairly new and is a way of saying that they love you. "It's that type of kiss that makes you notice that your heart, mind, and soul are connected." (News24)

12. Chin kiss and quick lip smooch is a way of being playful and flirty.

13. Stolen kiss is another way of being playful and flirty. And it is also a sign of passion.

14. A goodnight "kiss is a way of showing affection and care towards you. If they kiss you on the first date, they might like you, but labelling that as 'love' at that stage is a little bit early. If they keep doing that for some time, they have caught some feelings and can't let you go." (News24)

15. And last but not least, if they take your hands and get close to you and give you a kiss, this might mean you found your prince charming or shall we say princess charming.
