It isn't unusual for children to want to explore and push the boundary when it comes to their anatomy.

And finding things in their ears, noses, and hair is not uncommon.

Then there's those situations where we hear that something has crawled into a person's ear or nose. Which completely freaks us out...

A video that was shared on TikTok by an ear, nose, and throat surgeon left us even more freaked out.

We were shocked not only by what came out of this young boy's ear, but also from the reaction of the surgeon.

Considering she must see the craziest things in her field, for her to be surprised was concerning.

@drnosebest WATCH TO THE END. Please please please Tik tok don’t censor😫 This is important educational video. This teaches you not to put things in your ear. Listen to the cough reflex when the foreign body comes out of the ear. This is called the Arnold Nerve reflex that triggers a cough when skin of the ear canal is touched. Have you or your child ever put anything in their ear? #earforeignbody #ear #earnosethroatdoc #healthytip #tiktokdoc #whatnottodo ♬ original sound - Tonia L Farmer, MD

The doctor advises against putting anything in your ear. So, if you are fond of probing your ear with foreign objects, stop, don't do it!

She went on to share how the boy coughed when the piece of plastic was removed. She said: "Listen to the cough reflex when the foreign body comes out of the ear. This is called the Arnold Nerve reflex that triggers a cough when skin of the ear canal is touched." (TikTok)
