Ghanaian teacher who uses chalkboard to teach Microsoft gets funding
A story that teaches us about resilience. Sometimes you can do what you want even without the resources.
Not that we need much more to feel inspired after the big win our boys brought home this weekend.
But there's always something to be grateful for and one Ghanaian teacher showed us that sometimes you have to use what you have to achieve your goals.
Richard Appiah Akoto went viral in 2018 after he used coloured chalk and a blackboard to teach his students about Microsoft.
After images of him drawing a Microsoft diagram on his chalkboard for his students caught everyone's attention, things started changing for the school.
“I wanted them to know or see how the window will appear if they were to be behind a computer,” Akoto told CNN. “I've always wanted them to have interest in the subject, so I always do my possible best for them.”
After his post was shared a number of times, Microsoft Africa replied and promised Akoto educational materials and a computer.

Over and above the donation from Microsoft, many people have donated to his school thanks to his efforts.
This has allowed them to build an ICT (Information Communication Technologies) room and have equipped the students with a fighting chance in learning.
Akoto is a fine example of what it means to do what you can with what you have. So often we have people who do not follow their dreams because of all that they don't have, but why not use what you do have?
