South Africa is a caring nation, made up of people who genuinely want to make a difference.

One area where this has become very visible recently is in the funding for higher education. We need an educated nation to better our prospects for the future. But how do we get there if university bills cannot be paid? 

Since 2017, a crowdfunding platform has been able to harness the power of networking and social media to raise more than R30-million for around a thousand tertiary students. They can all now enter the working world and contribute to our economy. “Education should not be dependent on wealth,” says the team behind feenix.org.

Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp was joined by Cara-Jean from the crowdfunding platform to discuss how everyday individuals can get involved.
