Relationship coaches advocate for proactive communication in marriage

This is revolutionary! Instead of communicating from a place of reaction, why not look at these proactive examples?

Marriage is not a bed of roses and the sooner couples realise this, the better their marriage will become.

Just acknowledging that it takes work, dedication, and attention to detail in the way you communicate with one another can make a whole lot of difference in your relationship.

It's not that you have to walk around on eggshells (well, not all the time anyway), but you have to learn how to deliver things to each other in a way that doesn't end in warfare.

A couple, The Freemans, are relationship coaches with a wealth of knowledge on marriage.

Whether it comes to learning how to communicate better or just using a different tone when speaking to one another, this dynamic coaching couple has pearls of wisdom.

They are also authors and podcast hosts with relatable and actionable tools and skills for couples.

They shared a video on proactive communication examples that resonated with us and we wanted to share them with you.

  • Plans, schedules, and looking ahead at the day, week, month
  • Expectations so you’re on the same page and not making assumptions (like a trip)
  • Your capacity (like where you’re at emotionally, mentally, physically so your partner knows)
  • Needs in the relationship (talk about this before you’re in an argument)
  • And even realizing that you’ve been off track and want to course-correct as a couple

The above are ways that you can proactively communicate with one another when in a relationship.
