South African stars dazzle at Laureus World Sports Awards

The 20th staging of the Laureus World Sports Awards in Monaco on Monday saw local celebs bring their A-fashion game to this lavish ceremony.

The Laureus World Sports Awards celebrate the achievements of the finest athletes in the world‚ but more importantly‚ it honours sports’ capacity to change lives.

Some of the South African stars who attended the event included Siya Kolisi, Jeannie D, Bryan Habana, Maps Maponyane, Cameron van der Burgh and our very own Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp. All donning the most elegant and stylish outfits on the red carpet.

In 2018, nearly 300,000 young people all over the world directly benefited from more than 160 Laureus Sport for Goodsupported projects in 40 countries, working to end violence, discrimination, and disadvantage by using sport as the tool for change. 

One of Laureus Sport for Good’s key focus areas is promoting equality, empowerment, and safety for young women and girls. Of the 296,300 children and young people, Laureus Sport for Good programmes reached worldwide in 2018, 49% were young women and girls.
