An increasingly popular way schools boost school spirit and encourage creativity is through "anything but a school bag" day.

On this playful occasion, learners are challenged to ditch the traditional backpack in favour of something totally unexpected, and the results are often hilarious and wildly inventive.

While it’s all in good fun, the day also has a deeper message. It encourages kids to think differently, embrace sustainability, and reuse everyday items in imaginative ways.

According to Your Teen Mag, schools often organise this day to promote environmental awareness, reduce single-use or disposable bags, and allow learners to express their individuality through creativity.

Many former students commented on the video, saying they didn’t remember their school days being this fun.

Until one person made a vital observation, "Right, we were denied fun as millennials. Now, millennials are teachers, that's why."

This was in response to another user who had said, "I realised this was my High school over 10 years ago. We had such strict rules, I’m curious what on earth allowed this level of fun to happen."

The post even saw a teacher from Zimbabwe comment, "I agree! I'm a teacher in Zim, and we did this towards the end of the first school term. I have never seen teenagers so happy to be in school, and boy, did they go all out! Microwaves, toasters, drink carriers, and someone even came with a small soccer goal post! It was a hilarious, but much-needed downtime after an intense academic term, and so much fun!"
