Hassan Pisecka walked all the way from his home in southeastern Ukraine with just a plastic bag, passport, and telephone number on his hand.
The boy has since been reunited with his mother, dog, and disabled grandmother after volunteers at the border phoned the number on his hand.

Hassan's mother gave a tearful thanks, saying: "I am grateful you have saved my child's life. Next to my town is a nuclear power plant that the Russians are shooting at. I couldn't leave my mother; she can't move on her own. People with a big heart live in your small country."
