Here's how thieves can steal handbags out of a locked car
Updated | By The Workzone with Barney Simon
Security camera footage from Cape Town shows how creative thieves can get when it comes to lifting handbags.
There are now new precautions that you need to take to make sure your car and everything inside it is safe.
In security camera footage from Rondebosch, Cape Town a thief is seen secretly "unlocking" a woman's car and waiting for her to leave before proceeding to take her handbag.
As the woman leaves her car, a man is seen running up from behind the vehicle and grabbing the passenger side door. By subtly lifting the handle, he ensures that the car's central locking will not take effect when the driver presses her button on the remote.
After the woman is out of sight, the man walks back to the car, opens the boot and lifts the handbag before walking away.
