Leopard suffers after violent porcupine attack
Updated | By Lee-Roy Wright
This is definitely going to teach this leopard not to mess with Mr and Mrs Porcupine!

If there is one thing we know, porcupines come with a defence mechanism that can land you in hospital!
In nature, porcupines use their sharp quills to defend themselves from predators. Many believe that they are able to shoot their quills out from far, but this is not the case. When a predator attacks a porcupine, they release their quills and push them into the attacking animal.
This is exactly what happened when a leopard was seen stalking two porcupines in the Kruger National Park. Thinking they would be an easy meal, the leopard risks it all and pounces on one of the mammals, but ends up with more than it bargained for.
The porcupines dash off and the leopard is left with having to try and extract the sharp quills from its fur. Ouch!
Have you ever managed to see the rare porcupine in the wild?
