Man pays his speeding ticket with over 21,000 coins

It’s one of those things we all hate, being unfairly treated and having to pay for it. But as the saying goes, “revenge is sweet”, and this guy had the sweetest revenge ever!

When Brett Sanders got issued a $212 (about R3,000) ticket for going 14km/h over the speed limit in his town of Frisco, Texas, he couldn’t make sense of the ticket. “I didn’t hurt anybody. I didn’t endanger anybody. My speed was safe for the conditions around me. I didn’t feel like I owed anybody anything,” he told BuzzFeed News.

In order to try get some justice, he took the matter up with the courts, but unfortunately for him, the courts didn’t rule in his favour. So he decided to pay the money… in a very spiteful manner.

Sanders collected coins amounting to the ticket, filled them in buckets and dumped them on the clerk’s counter, with the majority of them ending up on the floor. Ouch. The coins reportedly took the clerks over three hours to collect, count, and re-roll for deposit, and they found that they were even left with an extra R120.

“It felt good just from an emotional standpoint to just kind of stick it to them one last time. But at the end of the day, I left without $212. At least I proved my point and was able to share that with a lot of other people and spark a debate,” he was quoted as saying in Your Daily Dish.
