Mating snakes fall through a ceiling in Brisbane

Homeowners in Brisbane were shocked when two male snakes fighting over a nearby female crashed through their ceiling.

The last thing you expect to see when you're relaxing at your suburban home with your partner is a snake - much less two snakes falling from your ceiling. Yet that is exactly the scene that met snake catcher Lana Field at a home in western Brisbane, Australia.

Lana went live on Facebook to show the chaos as it unfolded.

Lana says, "We have our first pair of combat males for the season", indicating that this is not the last time that she or others in the area will witness such an incident. The two coastal carpet pythons were fighting over a nearby female. Measuring at five feet (1,5 metres), Lana says the snakes are small for their species.

More alarming than the snakes destroying the residents' ceiling is that the female snake which sent them into a hormonal frenzy was yet to be discovered at the time of filming this video. Did she slither away or has she decided to take up permanent residence in the walls of the Brisbane home?
