We can agree that all our furry friends have beautiful souls - but do they also have to have beauty pageant looks?

The people at Sonoma-Marinfair don't believe that a dog's unconventional looks should be a reason to exclude them from celebrations so, in good spirits, they organised the World's Ugliest Dog competition.

Each year, dog owners go to San Francisco to enter dogs with unique looks in the World's Ugliest Dog competition with the hopes of winning the $1,500 prize.

This year's winner was Zsa Zsa, a bulldog with broad shoulders and a long tongue.

Zsa Zsa's owner, Megan Brainard, had this to say about her showstopping bulldog: "She was a puppy mill dog for 5 years in Missouri, and instead of placing her in a loving home at her end of breeding, she was put in a dog auction. [I]saw her beautiful picture on pet finder and HAD TO HAVE HER! She now lives out her retired life in Anoka, Minnesota."

Zsa Zsa may have been named the ugliest dog by the panel of judges, but there were some observers who were not sure that she deserved the title.

Whether everyone agrees on Zsa Zsa's looks or not, one thing is for sure: she is lucky to have found a loving home with Megan.
