Previously unheard Amy Winehouse demo unearthed
Updated | By The Workzone with Barney Simon
A producer who worked with Amy Winehouse on a very early demo has released the previously unheard track to the world. Listen to it below.
Amy Winehouse gave the world some great music, including hits such as 'Back to Black', 'Valerie' and 'Tears Dry On Their Own'.
Amy was also known for her signature beehive hairstyle and thick 'cat eye' eyeliner, a look that inspired the fashion looks of many of her fans.
Early this week, London musician Gil Cang released an unheard demo track that he co-wrote. The song is called 'My Own Way' and Gil said it was recorded in just three takes.
Hear a 17-year-old singing with what would soon become her trademark soulful pop style in the demo below:
The release of 'My Own Way' comes years after David Joseph of Universal Music said that he had destroyed all of his artist's demos to prevent people from lifting samples or releasing any of Amy's songs after her death.
Gil says he felt it was the right time to release the song.
