It is a widely accepted fact that pets should not be left alone in locked cars on hot days, yet there are some people who continue the irresponsible habit.

The United Kingdom has been experiencing incredibly high temperatures over the last few months, leaving many citizens weary of using the underground trains and leading experts to reissue warnings about the dangers of leaving animals in warm cars.

In spite of this, one woman in Crawley, Sussex was still caught mistreating her dogs. A man named Danny Cruttwell noticed the two dogs scrambling in the backseat of a car that was parked outside a local grocery store.

Danny says he knows the dogs have been in the car for over an hour because that is how long he was inside doing his shopping. He let the dogs out of the car, which has been left unlocked, and asks someone to bring water for them.

The owner of the dogs then arrives on the scene and confronts Danny. While Danny tries to explain that he opened the car to relieve the dogs from the heat, the woman insists that they were not in the car for that long. She seems more concerned about Danny entering her car than she does about the possible negative effects of leaving dogs out in the heat.

Danny says he wants people to be more mindful about what the extreme heat can mean for pets: "I just hope people begin to realise how dangerous it is to leave your dogs in this heat. A person wouldn’t be able to cope with being left in a scorching car, and neither can a dog."
