Spar Carols By Candlelight Johannesburg event cancelled due to adverse weather conditions
The Pretoria event, scheduled for 11 December at Loftus Versfeld, is set to continue as planned.
The annual SPAR Carols by Candlelight with Jacaranda FM, which was set to bring the Christmas spirit to Joburg on the 8th of December at St. Stithians College, has been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.

The Pretoria event, scheduled for 11 December at Loftus Versfeld, is set to continue as planned.
Top acts – including Connell Cruise, Craig Lucas, Paxton, Swing City, Claire Johnston, Rubber Duc, Roan Ash and the Ndlovu Youth Choir – were due to perform live at the Joburg event – a highlight on the festive season calendar that draws thousands from all over Gauteng and neighbouring provinces each year.
Kevin Fine, Jacaranda FM’s General Manager, says: “SPAR and Jacaranda FM were looking forward to yet another Carols for the books, but after receiving warnings from the South African Weather Service of adverse weather conditions with rain and lightning, we had to place the safety of our listeners and staff first and cancel the Johannesburg event. We would, however, like to encourage everyone to come out to the Pretoria event at Loftus Versfeld on the 11th December – featuring another stellar set of acts including Jo Black, Karen Zoid, Kurt Darren, Charlize Berg, Nadine, Nianell, Swing City and the Ndlovu Youth Choir.”

Piet van Vuuren, Inland Advertising and Promotions Manager of SPAR (SA), graciously donated fifty thousand Rands toward the contribution of gifts on hearing of the cancellation of the event. Van Vuuren did not want donations to go remiss to orphans expecting gifts from both Pretoria and Johannesburg SPAR Carols by Candlelight events.
