Elliot Mobility CEO Charles Luyckx on how his army training preps him for The Sun International CEO SleepOut™
Updated | By Tando Ntunja
Ever wondered how South Africa's business leaders will survive sleeping out on what's going to probably the coldest night this winter? Elliot Mobility's CEO Charles Luyckx reckons his training during military service will serve him well on the Mandela Bridge come July the 28th, 2016.
As CEO of contributing sponsor Elliot Mobility, Charles Luyckx speaks of his excitement over participating in The Sun International CEO SleepOut™ 2016: “We are absolutely delighted to be a contributing sponsor in this year’s event which we see as primarily focusing not only on homelessness, but also on education and upliftment of the next generation of South Africans. We’re also sponsoring the cardboard ottomans which the CEOs are going to sit and sleep on - not the most comfortable things, but it’s a part of the initiative that we’ve had to sponsor.”
Think Charles will survive the cold out on Nelson Mandela Bridge? He certaintly thinks so: “I have not done this before, the last time I did something very similar was when I did my military service, so I’m actually looking forward to it!”
Charles joined Elliott Mobility in 1987 and quickly developed into one of the most knowledgeable executives in the moving industry. In 2003, Charles was appointed joint CEO of Elliott. In January 2007, Charles Luyckx and Brad Barker successfully concluded an MBO, purchasing the share capital of Elliott from the Tom Ansley Trust. Charles is the former President of SAIMA (South African International Movers Association) and former President of OMNI (Overseas Moving Network International – based in London).
