CEO of Polyflor South Africa Tandy Coleman learnt the business from her father and is of the belief that concerted efforts for social change have the most impact: “I did The SleepOut™ last year as well and it was such a humbling experience and I was so proud to be part of that group that earned such a huge amount of money that could actually make a difference.”
Tandy adds more on the social significance of The Sun International CEO SleepOut™: “In our individual capacities, we can all make a difference, but when we get together as a business community, we can truly, truly make an impact to these children.”
When Tandy was appointed CEO of Polyflor South Africa in March 2016, she became a third generation Coleman heading up the business and taking over the helm from a legend in the industry - her father Denver Coleman. Polyflor South Africa is a leading vinyl flooring supply company in South Africa.
Tandy started her career at Polyflor in 1994 and for 10 years she was involved in all aspects of the business, with a particular focus on the accounting and financial operation. She then decided to take a sabbatical to explore other interests and gain experience outside of Polyflor and subsequently returned in 2009 to head up the Marketing and Sales Support departments, which in turn lead to her appointment as CEO.
As part of her passion and dedication to the industry, Tandy has recently been appointed as Chairman for the Flooring Industry Training Association, and holds a position on the Board of Directors for the Southern African Vinyl Association.
Tandy is a single mother of two beautiful teenage girls, who very efficiently manages to maintain her professional and home life balance. Her relationships with her family, friends and colleagues are testament to her priorities and she strives to be an example to all she knows.
