We get the scoop on Melissa McCarthy's latest comedy film! This one's set to tickle your funny bone!

What’s the story?

Tammy is a silly comedy with many predictable moments.  Whilst I loved Melissa McCarthy from her early TV days in Gilmore Girls and her hilarious role in Bridesmaids, this was a mediocre offering from a talented actress.  The premise is that Tammy (McCarthy) has a day which goes from bad to worse and her only option of leaving her small town is to use her grandmother’s car.  The only catch is that her grandmother, Pearl (Susan Sarandon), wants to come with.  Seeing as Tammy has no money of her own, she agrees and the rest of the movie is about their journey to get to the Niagara Falls as her grandmother has never seen it before.  This script was written by McCarthy and Ben Falcone and it seems it was written purely for McCarthy to play out every ridiculous joke she has ever thought of.

Who’s in it?

Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids, The Heat), Susan Sarandon (Stepmom), Gary Cole (The Brady Bunch Movie), Mark Duplass (The Mindy Project), Kathy Bates (Fried Green Tomatoes), Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy), Toni Collette (In Her Shoes).  I expected more from this star-studded cast, but as the main focus was on McCarthy’s character, some had too little airtime to make an impact.

Who’s the director?

Directorial debut of Ben Falcone.

What will you remember?

The dance moves Tammy pulls in the bar and at a house party later on.

What’s the best scene?

When Tammy’s boss, Keith Morgan, fires her, she lets rip on him with some funny one-liners.

What’s the best line?

Muscle shirts are for muscles – Pearl (Tammy’s grandmother)

With what piece of information can you impress your friends?

Ben Falcone is three dimensional in his role of co-writer, director and actor (Keith Morgan) in this movie.  He is also McCarthy’s husband in real life.
