Winner of the Jacaranda foot in the door competition, Tsholo Phiri is steadily findng his feet within the media industry.

Tell us about your journey into radio before the Jacaranda gig?

Well I first went through an internship at YFM. After the internship was done I ended up working at the station as a sports presenter for about a year.  I left and honestly did nothing for about three months and then the Jacaranda foot in the door competition came about and I thought to myself it would be a great opportunity for me to fastforward my career by a couple of months. Now I'm here, doing my own show titled The late Night Flight with Tsholo Phiri from 10:00pm -1:00a.m every day of the week.

We did a bit of stalker research and found out that you actually featured in a hip hop music video titled 16 bars.  How was that experience for you?

It was a hectic, yet enjoyable experience mostly because of the people and the crew who were just so helpful and professional in getting the best out of that music video.  But yeah, I was man handled a lot there, however the one thing I did enjoy was the stunts! There’s a scene where I actually get shot over a bridge and hoisted into a river bank, quite scary but a lot of fun too.  They actually used rubber bullets for that scene .

You also studied drama in Varsity, what's your acting career looking like at the moment?

I'm still doing numerous auditions; nothing has come up yet but I'm hoping that this year will be the year where more doors open up for me, epecially with regards to presenting.

Oh really, so which show would you love to present?

I'd like to present for a music or entertainment show, one that focuses on the youth and local pop culture.

We put Tsholo's acting skills to the test. See the 'dfferent faces' of Tsholo.
