ANC gears up for National List Conference

The ANC is holding its National List Conference this weekend to select candidates for the upcoming local government elections. The ANC said it would announce mayoral candidates for metros and some other municipalities. The party's Secretary General Gwede Mantashe said the party had to go through this process to ensure as many people were involved as possible. "We will announce mayoral candidates ahead of the elections. That remains the position of the ANC. It will happen quite early to the elections...we will announce early enough for them to be part of the campaigning," Mantashe said.
