Giant hole swallows 74-year-old Johannesburg motorist

A 74-year-old motorist's blue hatchback was almost completely destroyed after a huge hole opened up and swallowed it.
In Greymont, Johannesburg, a 74-year-old man was rescued from a giant hole after crashing into it during a heavy rainstorm.

The blue hatchback was almost completely destroyed in the crash, which comes after many complaints from residents in the suburb. It had originally been dug to fix a water leak in the street.
According to reports, the hole has been reported several times.

Reports also state that the motorist sustained cuts and scratches on his head, but did not appear to be seriously injured.
At least three people had to pull the man out of the vehicle.
Advocate Stefanie Fick, OUTA Executive Director: Accountability Division, spoke to Breakfast with Martin Bester about the incident.
"This is a great example of local government not doing their job."
