PICTURES: Unrest and vandalism in Johannesburg result in destroyed property

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes in the Johannesburg CBD.

"Roads that have been blocked off include the M2 in both directions, between Benrose and Denver, and on Main Reef Road and Jules Street in Jeppestown," says spokesperson for Johannesburg metro police, Xolani Fihla.
Road users are advised to use alternative routes. Residents in the area were advised on community WhatsApp groups to stay home until it’s declared safe to leave.

According to Jacaranda FM, several roads in Johannesburg have been closed to traffic due to violent protests in the city.
The situation is tense with vehicles being torched.
