The Maldives reopened its tourist resorts on 15 April 2021 and welcomed its first international flight to bolster the economy.
After a year of lockdown and the coronavirus, the Maldives is planning to launch a "Visit, Vaccinate and Vacation” concept, making it very attractive as a holiday destination.

The aim is to welcome 1.5-million tourists in 2021, implementing a program to vaccinate visitors on arrival. It is called “Vaccine tourism” and Maldives’ minister of tourism, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, says it will allow tourists to "Visit, Vaccinate and Vacation".
Would you visit the Maldives to get vaccinated? Martin Bester, Liesl Laurie, and Elma Smit would go in a heartbeat and work on the holiday while they’re at it!
