Grandma’s gift guide for #BlackFriday

Grandma’s gift guide for #BlackFriday

Remember way back when, before technology took over our lives, we looked forward to Christmas at Grandma’s and the Christmas presents from Grandma?

Well, that’s what we think would make the ideal gifts for family members this year – a gift Grandma would give. And when better to get these things than on #BlackFriday when prices will be ridiculously low.

Various retailers, including hardware stores, will be having sales up to as much as 85% off. So our Grandma’s Christmas-inspired list of what to buy your family members is definitely attainable.

What to get your aunts;

- Shawls, scarves, purses.

Yup, a broad list that may sound boring, but fear not. No matter how young or old your aunts are, these three items are always welcome. Make sure they speak to the person’s age though. Don’t go getting old aunt Dorah a sparkling, night-out-on-the-town clutch. And for these, checkout Foschini and Woolworths for good quality, value-for-money gifts.

What to get your uncles;

- Alcohol and handkerchiefs

Whether or not your uncle drinks, this is a great gift because you can keep it on a mantle and pour a shot for a friend or marinate that steak. And the packaging really saves you money, a quick pretty ribbon will do the trick. Handkerchiefs are a timeless classic and can even be personalised. Makro has some really awesome specials coming up on their wines and whisky. Check out Woolworths for those hankies.

What to get your brothers;

- Wallets, pocketknife, toolbox

Look, Builders Warehouse has already got us in the feels thinking about all the DIY going on sale. And Grandma would be proud of us doing things for ourselves. We’ve seen ourselves build our own house from the bottom up, just from the #BlackFriday sale. But, more realistically – there will be awesome small toolboxes (fits in the boot type) and pocketknives on sale. You don’t want to need a plumber and your brother can’t help. You can find very nice wallets on Takealot.com.

What to get your sisters;

- Handbags, accessories and cardigans

Remember those (now horrendous looking) jerseys grandma used to knit for you or those cute watches from Avon or Honey? Well, we loved them. Stay in that lane and get your sister a handbag from Spree or Superbalist, and if you have a few extra Rands, throw in a cute bracelet from Dischem and a cardigan from Mr Price.

What to get your parents;

- The world

But since we can’t afford that yet; we suggest you hit Makro and Game and go to their home and clothing sections and check out their lampshades, bedding, jackets, shoes, and smelling salts.
