Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper weren't first options for 'A Star Is Born'

Barbra Streisand thinks the most recent 'A Star Is Born' remake was “the wrong idea”.

The iconic singer, Barbra Streisand, starred alongside Kris Kristofferson in the third iteration of the romantic drama film, 'The Star Is Born', in 1976, after two previous versions.

The 2018 film was remade again with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper as the main characters. 

According to Streisand, Beyoncé Knowles and Will Smith were set to star in the remake.

Streisand has said Knowles and Smith would have made the film more “interesting”, as she believes the final version of the 2018 movie was too similar to her own version.

“At first, when I heard it was going to be done again, it was supposed to be Will Smith and Beyoncé, and I thought, that’s interesting. Really make it different again, different kind of music, integrated actors, I thought that was a great idea.

“So, I was surprised when I saw how alike it was to the version that I did in 1976.”
