The trailer for the highly anticipated documentary about late actor, Heath Ledger, has been released - and it contains never-before-seen home videos.

"I Am Heath Ledger" will be released at the end of April and offers an intimate look at the remarkable life and career of the Australian actor who died of a drug overdose nearly 10 years ago.


The documentary will include exclusive interviews with Ledger's friends and family.


The body of the 28-year-old actor was found in his Manhattan apartment in 2008.

It was found his death was caused by "acute intoxication".


He accidentally overdosed on painkillers and sedatives.

The documentary is aimed at offering a fresh insight into the true character of Ledger, who was not only a loved actor, but a filmmaker at heart.


It also includes interviews with his sister, Kate Ledger, musician Ben Harper, actor Ben Mendehlson, and Brokeback Mountain director Ang Lee.
