The 'Revenant' actor is currently single after recently splitting up with his girlfriend Kelly Rohrbach, 25, but hinted that starting a family is still a possibility in the future.

Leonardo, 41, told Rolling Stone magazine: "Do you mean do I want to bring children into a world like this? If it happens, it happens. I'd prefer not to get into specifics about it, just because then it becomes something that is misquoted. But yeah. I don't know. To articulate how I feel about it is just gonna be misunderstood."

Meanwhile, Leonardo has been vocal about the tough filming conditions on his new movie 'The Revenant' but insisted he would be happy to make an "even darker" film in the future.

Speaking about the film, in which he plays legendary frontiersman Hugh Glass who sustains injuries from a brutal bear attack and is left for dead, Leonardo said: "[I] would love to do something even darker [than 'The Revenant']. I don't know, like how would you penetrate the mind of somebody like Travis Bickle in 'Taxi Driver'? There's a word in German ... schadenfreude. It means humiliation for somebody else, and it can be done in movies, like when Bickle takes [Cybill Shepherd] to the porno theater for his first date. You're like, 'Oh, God, please don't do this!'"
