Miss SA celebrates her birthday in style
Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters celebrated her 22nd birthday during a glitzy event in Pretoria on Saturday.
The beauty, who celebrates her birthday on June 28, used the opportunity to launch a new charity campaign.
"The Unbreakable campaign aims to educate, uplift and empower South African women. This they can start to do by taking care of themselves and making wise decisions," Nel-Peters says.
Nel-Peters says she decided to launch the campaign after she was involved in an attempted hijacking earlier this month.
"It was an awful experience, but I knew how to handle the situation in the best possible way. I had done a defensive driving course as well as a workshop for women that focused on everything from hijacking and robberies and how to handle these situations to how to get out of toxic and abusive relationships."
Amit Niv, who helped Demi-Leigh shortly after the incident, was a special guest at the birthday celebrations.
