Trevor Noah makes history
South African comedian, Trevor Noah made history when he took over the reins of The Daily Show after Jon Stewart announced his resignation. In December 2014, Noah became a recurring contributor on The Daily Show and in March this year it was announced that he'll step in as host. After an initial drop in ratings, Noah brought a new dynamic to the show, attracting more young viewers.
Karlien and Derick gets divorced
Afrikaans songstress, and winner of Strictly Come Dancing, Karlien van Jaarsveld made headline news shortly after being crowned as the Strictly champion, when her marriage to rugby's sweetheart, Derick Hougaard started falling apart. After much tabloid speculation Karlien took to Facebook to announce the shock news that they were splitting up. Derick has since spoked out on social media saying that he was willing to try and make it work. The couple have twin boys together.
The Biebs' photo scandal
Justin Bieber seems to be making headline news for all the wrong reasons lately, and after making headlines for speeding, pelting his neighbour's house with eggs and doing community service, came the naked photos. Images of the Biebs on holiday in Bora Bora hit the internet and was soon shared by fans as well as the haters. Initially Bieber didn't address the scandal, but when he did, he said that "they photos aren't that bad".
Charlie Sheen admits to being HIV+
Hollywood was abuzz after a report that an a-list celebrity was infected with HIV. A day before Charlie Sheen took to the Today Show to admit to having the disease, rumours were rife. Sheen spoke out about his wild lifestyle and how it affected his health. He also swore to find a cure for the disease which kills million across the globe.
Bruce becomes Caitlyn
While no Kardashian made this year's list there is no denying that Caitlyn Jenner dominated social media and media headlines for months after revealing her gender transition on the cover of Vanity Fair. Details emerged about how his children and step children were aware of the fact that Bruce Jenner often cross-dressed, but no-one expected Bruce to make the full transition. Caitlyn first made her public appearance and the Epsy awards, and made an emotional speech.
