The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) has launched an investigation into a KwaZulu-Natal Metro police officer who allegedly pulled a gun on his family.

The incident is said to have happened in the early hours of Tuesday.
Ipid spokesperson Grace Langa says the officer was apparently involved in an argument with his wife when he allegedly started shooting at his two children.
The shots missed the wife but injured the children.
"It is alleged that a member had a domestic dispute with the wife, who is also a metro officer. He fired three rounds and missed his wife injuring his children.
“The member involved is an acting captain in metro police attached to the POP unit. He is 44 years old. The member has been arrested and charged,” says Langa.
The 25-year-old daughter was grazed on her arm while the 20-year-old son was injured on the chin and is recovering in hospital.
The suspect appeared at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
