1 killed, 11 seriously injured in minibus collision
A woman was killed and 11 others were seriously injured in a collision between a minibus taxi and a sports utility vehicle near Estcourt on Monday morning, paramedics said.
KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Medical Service spokesperson Robert McKenzie said the accident took place on the Loskop road southwest of Estcourt. The woman who died was a passenger in the taxi.
He said that the taxi overturned and the jaws of life were used to extract one of the patients.
He described the 11 patients as being in a serious condition and they were all taken to the Estcourt provincial hospital for treatment.
He said the cause of the crash was not immediately known and police were investigating.
