Almost two dozen suspects have been arrested for a recent spate in hijackings in Midrand.
Four others were shot dead at President Park on Friday in an exchange of gun fire with police.
It’s believed the group were planning to hijack a truck between Pretoria and Johannesburg when law enforcement swooped in.
“As the team entered the premises in President Park Midrand, they were met with gunfire by some of the suspects armed with rifles and handguns,” says national police spokesperson Vish Naidoo.
“There were 27 suspects on the premises. Four suspects were shot and killed while four others were wounded. A total of 23 suspects, including the four wounded suspects are under arrest.”
