30 new Covid-19 infections at NW schools

The Department of Education in North West has confirmed 30 new Covid-19 infections at schools in the province.
The infections include 22 teachers, six pupils and a deputy principal.

National schools welcomed back their Grade 7 and 12 pupils in June after they closed in March due the Covid-19 pandemic.
Spokesperson Elias Malindi says there are a total of 62 cases at schools around the province.
“To date, 14 schools have been shut down in the province and will reopen after they have been disinfected and decontaminated in accordance to the Department of Health's recommendations.
“Provincial MEC for Education Mmaphefo Matsemelo says education and health departments continue to work together to render clinical support to schools.”
More pupils are expected to return to schools in July.
