31 greyhounds rescued from horror conditions in Mahikeng
Updated | By Gaopalelwe Phalaetsile
The National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA) has rescued 31 starving greyhound dogs from a house in Mahikeng, North West.
The organisation says some of the rescued dogs also had broken bones which healed abnormally.
NSPCA’s national inspector Kgakgamatso Moseki says the case has been ongoing since last year.
"Last year in April 2019, 20 greyhounds were rescued from the same premises under similar conditions. We were doing an assessment when we found this second group of greyhounds in the same condition.

"The dogs were neglected, starved, denied water, and no veterinary treatment was provided to these poor dogs.”
The case against the owner, who is a dog breeder, was postponed due to the Covid-19 lockdown but Moseki hopes the trial will start in July.
