3.7 magnitude earthquake hits KZN
Updated | By Nokukhanya Mntambo
Residents in parts of KwaZulu Natal were left shaking following a minor earthquake along the south coast on Thursday.

The tremor was recorded to have hit just after 1pm with the epicentre near Pietermaritzburg, but shock waves were felt in Durban, Amanzimtoti, Hibberdene and Port Shepstone.
Chief scientist at the Council of Geoscience, Dr Eldridge Kgaswane says they will continue to monitor the situation.
"The earth tremor registered a preliminary 3.7 on the local magnitude scale as recorded by the South African Seismograph Network," says Kgaswane.
CGS further confirmed that the tremor was not linked to the one that occurred in the Philippines the same day.
"The CGS can further confirm that the earth tremor is in no way related to the one that occurred in the Philippines earlier today.
"Furthermore, the CGS would like to assure the South African public that there is no cause for panic as earthquakes are a rare occurrence in that affected area."

Television footage showed flames pouring out of three carriages as people could be heard crying during the incident, in a rural area of central Punjab province. Some of the passengers -- many of whom were pilgrims travelling to one of Pakistan's biggest annual religious gatherings -- had been cooking breakfast when two of their gas cylinders exploded, Ali Nawaz, a senior Pakistan Railways official, told AFP.
Amanzimtoti resident Tizina Panizollo says she was sitting on her sofa when she felt the earth shaking.
She says she felt the tremor move from the roof to the floor and through her legs.
