The South African National Defense Force (SANDF) has arrested 45 people for illegally crossing into South Africa from Zimbabwe at a damaged border fence at Beitbridge.
SANDF spokesperson Jaco Theunissen says Zimbabwean nationals are arrested daily for crossing into South Africa to buy goods and trying to go back into their home country.
"Daily, we arrest people for entering the country illegally. It differs, now it is up to 45 people and these numbers might increase,"
He said in September alone at least 1900 people were arrested.
