5 things to know about the new Acting National Police Commissioner

President Jacob Zuma has appointed Lieutenant-General Lesetja Mothiba as acting National Police Commissioner who would replace Lieutenant-General Khomotso Phahlane.
Mothiba was previously the police's Divisional Head of the Management Intervention Unit.
Here are 5 things you need to know about Lieutenant-General Lesetja Mothiba
1. Mothiba is a career policeman. He has more than 30 years in the service
2. He has been appointed in the position to replace Khomotso Phahlane - who was appointed to replace a still on suspension Riah Phiyega
3. Mothiba previously held the positions of head of SAPS's national Management Intervention Unit and before that - Gauteng police commissioner
4. One of Mothiba's first statements on his new position - "My role is to fight crime"
5. He's been described as committed to his job and is viewed as untainted by scandal
