We take a look at the Top 5 things we have learnt on this Tuesday.

1.  VARSITY FEE INCREASES WILL BE CAPPED AT 6%

With student protests on various campuses around the country showing no signs of abating, Higher Education minister Blade Nzimande and various education big shots announced a proposal to cap fee increases at 6%. It remains to be seen if this will calm the anger of the #FeesMustFall protestors on campuses such as Wits, UCT and Stellenbosch.

2.  DON'T TRY AND SCORE POLITICAL POINTS WITH OUR STUDENTS

DA leader Mmusi Maimane didn't exactly receive the warmest of welcomes when visiting protesting students at UCT. Maimane wanted to show solidarity with the students, but they accused him of political tomfoolery and chased him away.

3.  PROTESTORS DO NOT MIND SOME CELEBRITY SUPPORT

Rapper AKA showed up at Wits to show solidarity with the students, while singer Simphiwe Dana has offered to sing for the students this evening.

4.  THE MEDIA HAS SOME REAL PATIENCE WHEN IT COMES TO OSCAR PISTORIUS

The media hung out at Uncle Arnold's house in Waterkloof Ridge for most of the day, after Oscar Pistorius' slightly early release on correctional supervision. Pistorius was released late yesterday afternoon to avoid a media scrum. Undeterred, the scrum pitched up at the house early this morning, with only a short family statement and some moving vehicles to keep reporters occupied.

5. THE SPRINGBOKS HAVE BIG HEARTS

The Springboks might be focussed on the massive World Cup semi-final against the All Blacks, but still took time out to pay tribute to drowned teacher Zukisa Kela. Kela died following a gang attack at Rhodes Park Lake, with his last words before he left school at the weekend "viva 'maBokoBoko viva"
