501 SAfricans serving jail sentences abroad

The minister said a further 271 were remand detainees, while two South Africans were out of bail and 80 were on parole, outside the country’s borders.
Responding to a question from the Democratic Alliance, Nkoana Mashabane said her department tried to ensure that South Africans jailed abroad were given humane treatment but could not negotiate better conditions than what local nationals in the same prison received. -ANA
