80 arrested in Thembelihle raid

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Kay Makhubela said police recovered drugs, an illegal firearm and pirated CDs.
Several allegedly illegal immigrants were also arrested.
"Home affairs officials are screening them now to determine whether they are here illegally."
The raid was still continuing by 08:00.
"We are still here. We are continuing with the operation," Makhubela said.
The area had recently seen a bout of violent service delivery protests during which dozens were arrested and the local police station was torched.
Makhubela said earlier that the raid, which also involved soldiers, was happening because Thembelihle had been identified as a hotspot for violent criminal activity.
The raid was expected to continue into the afternoon.
