9 arrested for allegedly beating man to death
Nine men accused of killing a man and injuring two others in an apparent case of mob justice were expected to appear in the Ntumuza Magistrate’s Court on Friday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.
The men have been in police custody since Wednesday when they were arrested.
Their arrests follow a burglary incident at the weekend.
“On 27 September 2015 at about 6am Vusumuzi Sikhakhane, 36, and his two friends were accused of breaking into one of the suspects’ house and stole a tablet and cell phone,” said police spokesman Major Thulani Zwane.
“The suspects assaulted the three victims along Ntombela road in F section. The victims were taken to hospital where Vusumuzi later succumbed to his injuries. The other victims sustained multiples injuries.”
