The City of Tshwane says power has been restored to most parts of affected suburbs. Power supply was interrupted as a result of thunderstorm that hit parts of the city yesterday.

The City of Tshwane released a statement saying that technicians worked until late last night to restore power to the affected areas which include Mooikloof, Garsfontein, Silver Lakes, Mamelodi and Eersterust.
"Electricity technicians worked hard to restore power supply to the affected areas following the severe thunderstorm," the statement read.
According to the city's Lindelo Mashigo power supply to at least 98% of the affected areas have been restored.

"We are now focusing on restoring power to the remaining 2% of the affected areas, that include individual households," Mashigo says.
He says it is difficult to estimate when power will be fully restored as the list of residents with electricity issues is growing all the time.
"The outage was caused by lightning that struck the electrical lines between the Watloo and Rooiwal substations,' Mashigo says.
