ActionSA hands Hammanskraal water tender report to SIU
Updated | By Makhosazane Twala
ActionSA has handed a report into the multi-million rand Rooiwaal Treatment Plant tender to the Special Investigating Unit (SIU).
The report emanates from a commission of inquiry the party held into the Hammanskraal water crisis.
The R295 million tender was meant to solve the water crisis, but claims of large-scale corruption has since emerged.
ActionSA’s Gauteng chairperson Bongani Baloyi says residents have been denied the opportunity to make submissions as part of the various investigations.
“The community has lived with contaminated water for 17 years running and this led us to step in and hold the Tshwane municipality accountable.
“The SIU of South Africa has now received this report and has an ethical duty to include this report, commissioned by ActionSA, in its ongoing investigation into the R295 million Rooiwaal Treatment Plant tender that has further frustrated the region’s water woes.”
