President Cyril Ramaphosa lauded the great work done by the South African Communist Party (SACP) publication ‘The African Communist’ during the struggle.
Ramaphosa was speaking at the 60th Anniversary of the African Communist seminar at Liliesleaf Farm in Sandton on Monday morning.
The publication was first published in 1959 by the SACP when the party was still banned by the apartheid government.
Ramaphosa says the publication is a critical platform to continue the necessary criticism of the government and governing party.
"To this extent, we view the journal [African Communist] as an integral part of our revolutionary conscience.
"Warning us all always of the slow pas of socioeconomic transformations, the dangers of corruption and capture of the state by private corporate interest, the weakening of state organise and the decline in our electoral support," says Ramaphosa.
Ramaphosa says the role played by the African Communist will always be appreciated and believes the publication expanded the world view of ordinary workers.
