AfriForum distances itself from old SA flag
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Several photos of protestors carrying an old South African flag have surfaced on social media.
Lobby group, AfriForum, says South Africans were urged to wear black and ensure that the protests were kept apolitical.
When asked about the presence of the old national flag, AfriForum's head of community safety, Ian Cameron, says they cannot control what people wear or bring to the protest.
"I do not have control over people's decisions and people who want to wear it," he told Jacaranda FM News.

Cameron says the aim of the protest action was to highlight the plight of farmers.
"Black Monday was a big success. People took notice of what is happening in South Africa. It's about time that people see what a tragic thing is happening with our farmers. We have lost 72 farmers just in 2017.
"People need to realise that without farmers we are going to have a hungry country," Cameron says.
